About Us

We’re identical twin sisters who love travel, amazing literature, writing, local food, photography, certain open-world video games, flying, anime, and much more! Currently, we are pursuing these interests on a “gap year”. What is that?

Unofficial Definition According to Us: One is on a gap year when one pursues a “gap” between one life and another changed life all while still pursuing life in general – but perhaps a definition is too hard to pin down?

Many people have problems with the label “gap year”, and we, like others, prefer terms such as “learning year”, “knowledge year”, “growth year”, etc. And the time taken off really has no limited length (although perhaps an extended amount of time is not a ”gap” but more a new route?). Really, the name depends person to person. Regardless, we intend to use this site as a place for us to constantly “mind” the gap, think of how our time is influencing our lives and those lives around us. How can we create, learn, bring positivity, patience, new understanding? Can we be held accountable for our actions, creations, this year?

Goals for this site:
1) Pursuit of new and old muses. Be a creator and not a consumer.
2) Learn a variety of new skills while also expanding on the old, out-of-practice ones.
3) Become a confident, safe, knowledgeable, conscientious traveller and explorer of life in general.
4) Become a life-long learner, accustomed to analyzing all situations without supervision.

Home Base(s)

Some travelers are able to travel without a sort of “home base” – take Louis Cole of the YouTube channel “FunForLouis” as an example. However, many travelers do seek this “home” whilst abroad, and we would definitely include ourselves in this category.

Houston, Texas as well as Estes Park, Colorado, are our two home bases for this year. After completing high school in Houston, our family is deciding whether or not to stay in Houston or move permanently to Estes Park. So, another theme of this site will be “Home” – What is it and how does it move with us throughout life?

Some of our photography may come from trips we’ve taken during high school, but we’ll provide dates to give some context around each shot.
